We invite physicians trained in performing cesarean sections to join the Golden Medical Clinic and Golden and District Hospital, a close-knit and multidisciplinary team committed to exceptional patient care. Our clinic and hospital are built on a foundation of collaboration, support, and a commitment to the health of our community. We understand the importance of work-life balance and have designed an accommodating, flexible schedule.

We currently function with two enhanced surgical skilled physicians, and one obstetrical surgical trained physician. We are seeking a fourth surgical call provider trained in obstetrical care. Call volume is 1 in 4, however, we often will assist each other on cases and strive to provide a supportive environment for our physicians. Additional opportunities include family medicine practice paid through the Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) Payment Model, and emergency shifts – compensated under the new Alternative Payments Subsidiary Agreement (APSA) contract.

Short-Term Locum Period: To ensure that this opportunity is the right fit for both you and our team, we require a short-term locum period prior to offering long-term recruitment benefits. This provides the chance to get to know each other and ensures Golden is the perfect place for your career and lifestyle goals.
We invite you to become a valued part of our dedicated healthcare team, make a real impact on patient care, and experience the unique lifestyle Golden has to offer.

Inuvik

Dates: Open

Skills: ESS/OSS, ER, clinic, hospitalist
Inuvik is a community of 3500 which supports a primarily indigenous regional population of 8000.  Our core team includes two FPAs and one ESS, supported by a team of locums.  We run the northernmost functional OR in North America and are in need of ESS of OSS physicians to help cover surgical call, perform surgical consultations and procedures (including endoscopy, laparoscopic surgeries, hernias, minor procedures etc.) and provide primary care in obstetrics.  Added ability to work ER is very helpful but not essential.  Our team is incredibly supportive and collegial.  Locums are flexible and can be as short as a week, though two weeks + is ideal.  There are options to tie in your locum with a northern adventure in one of our remote national parks, a fishing/hunting adventure, canoe trip, or dog sledding expedition!  Please email to inquire.

Peace River, AB

Dates: indefinitely

Skills: ESS/OSS, ER, hospitalist, clinic
Peace River is a beautiful community in northern Alberta with a population of approximately 10,000, serving an obstetrical and surgical catchment area of 25,000. Our program serves a large population of Indigenous and Hutterite patients, and we are supported by a strong network of consultants in Grande Prairie (approximately a 2-hour drive) who provide advice and backup for more complex cases.

We have been a stable and busy ESS and obstetrical site for many years, with excellent support from experienced OR nurses and two full-time GPAs. Our site manages 350–400 deliveries per year, in addition to a variety of elective and emergency ESS surgeries and endoscopy.

Peace River is a regional hub for medical services, as well as recreational activities and amenities in northwestern Alberta. Our physician group is collegial and supportive, and there are opportunities to incorporate ER work, hospitalist shifts, and clinic practice depending on interest.

Our current team includes two ESS physicians and one OSS physician. We are actively recruiting an additional ESS/OSS physician and are seeking ESS/OSS locums to support coverage until recruitment is complete. The AMA offers a daily per diem minimum for OSS/ESS locums as an added incentive.

Locum coverage is welcome at almost any time, with a particular need in June–July 2026, when one of our ESS physicians will be away leading a medical mission to Namibia.

If you are interested in locum work or would like to discuss longer-term opportunities in Peace River, please contact:
