Fernie, BC Dates: May 12 to July 13, 2025 (flexible) Skills: ESS/OSS | Come hike, mountain bike, fish and enjoy the mountains while on call! Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of South Eastern BC, Fernie is 70 minutes away from the Cranbrook airport and 3-hour drive west of Calgary, Alberta. Looking for a FP-OSS locum to cover OSS call for 1 week at a time alternating with our ESS (can be negotiated) and full scope office practice under the new LFP payment model, average 3 days per week but flexible. We provide coverage for cesarean, assisted deliveries, and D&C with excellent backup from two other OSS providers in town, in addition to low risk maternity. Additional ER shifts and inpatient care available if interested. Ideally looking for someone who can cover 2 full months to extend my maternity leave, but partial coverage is also welcomed. Olds, AB Dates: Mar-Oct, 2025 Skills: ESS/OSS, Low Risk Obstetrics, ER | Olds is a gem in rural practice – it is in close proximity to urban centres but offers the charm and challenges of rural life. Our operating room has a robust surgical program and supportive physician group. Olds delivers between 150-200 babes a year in central AB with a population of 10,000 1:3 C/S call, 1:6 low risk call (c/s call scheduled at the same time), participation in the ER rotation with the opportunity to pick up shifts and office. Optional participation in the hospitalist program. We are a collegial supportive group and the physician you are covering would be willing to discuss using their home over the locum. Meadow Lake, SK Dates: indefinite Skills: OSS/ESS | Meadow Lake is a community of 5000 in Northern Saskatchewan with a large catchment area. Current local obstetrical and surgical services provided by a team of 3 physicians (1 GP ESS, 1 GP FPA and 1 GP OSS/FPA). Currently providing on call/after hours services Monday to Friday as this is what our team can manage. Looking for a physician to provide C-Section coverage. BC Rural Family Practice Enhanced Surgical Skills OB Locum (RESSO) Program
BC’s Rural Family Practice Enhanced Surgical Skills OB Locum (RESSO) Program will run as a pilot program until March 31, 2025.
Eligible communities can access up to 35 days of locum coverage per rural family practice physician with surgical obstetrical skills per fiscal year. Each locum assignment must be a minimum of 2 days in duration. Physicians are encouraged to utilize eligible days for vacation, time-off and Continuing Medical Education (CME). Any unused days will expire at the end of each fiscal year.

All RESSO host requests and locum applications are reviewed within 24-48 hours.
